Castellina in Chianti is the ideal destination to spend holidays marked by relaxation and good taste. Its geographical location is strategic as it is only a few kilometers away from the most important cities in Tuscany. During the autumn period, the streets of the village come alive with tourists discovering the new Chianti Classico wine and the first pressing of excellent extra virgin olive oil. Siena (15 km) is the city of the Palio, where on July 2nd and August 16th the famous horse race takes place in Piazza del Campo. Florence (35 km) is a Renaissance city famous for its numerous works of art and folklore attractions (historic football). San Gimignano (20 km) is a UNESCO World Heritage city, unique in the world for having preserved its medieval towers intact. Monteriggioni (10 km) is a small medieval castle where you can walk on real medieval walls admiring a breathtaking view of Chianti, and in July there is a medieval historical re-enactment. Colle Val d’Elsa (16 km) is a small medieval town renowned worldwide for its crystal processing, where some furnaces still carry on the ancient tradition of mouth-blown crystal work; walking along its alleys, it seems that time has stood still. Just a few kilometers away, you can visit Valdorcia, a UNESCO World Heritage site for its enchanting hills rich in history. In the immediate surroundings of Castellina, there are countless destinations to discover, starting with the wonderful Chianti Classico area famous for the production of the homonymous wine, rich in medieval castles to visit, with many charming small villages including Radda in Chianti, Greve in Chianti, Gaiole in Chianti, Panzano, and many others.
